I've been reading the book Rogue Trader, about Nick Leeson , the guy that brought down Barings Bank in 1995, by hiding losses of nearly £850m. There was a movie of the same name made starring Ewan McGregor. It truly is a remarkable story. The book is gut wrenching. Question I have here is... Ultimately, of course hes to blame. But how much of the blame should lie with the bank for letting him trade for over 2 years without checking. I mean 1 day he lost £50m. The margin payments he was asking for from London were over £10m per day toward the end. Any of the young uns ,or anyone who didnt remember it on the board should check the full movie out here. It really is a good watch.
