Great Test bowler, but a more miserable bugger never lived, with the possible exception of Mick Harford, who was also born in Sunderland.

I passed through Ynysangharad park in Pontypridd this afternoon by the cricket ground with its tiny old scoreboard and thought of the late great Malcolm Marshall, bowling there for Hampshire against Glamorgan when Glamorgan played matches all over Wales,so sad to hear that Bob has passed.

In terms of punditry he was the Graeme Souness of cricket. Never had a good word to say about anybody.

Yes when Dilley joined Botham the game had gone,in fact Dilley apparently asked Both when he came to the wicket what they where doing and Botham said just enjoy yourself so they played with no pressure and it showed in the way they both batted.
