It's amazing what mind of knowledge this board is!
It's great isn't it. I myself actually got addicted to it. The things I've learned on here though have stood me in good stead for making small talk in the ques for the till at Lidls. I'm right good at that now, sharing with others the insight I've gleaned. I notice some shoppers avoiding me because my knowledge put's them to shame. They'd rather que elsewhere than be embarrased by the broad spectrum of knowledge I'm imparting on them.
'Don't worry if there is lumps in them cup o soups you've got there. No. They are just croutons. A form of French bread' I'd say
'It costs £250,000 to go through the canal in Egypt" I'd say if some one behind me is discussing holiday plans "Probably get's added on to the price of a cruise and is why the drinks are so pricey" I'd say "maybe Benidorm might be better"
Never a word of thanks mind.
Totally get where you're coming from.
D'ya know, some have tried to wrench themselves away from this board, until they realise that they haven't had a decent conversation for yonks 'cos they're bereft of anything to add - so they log back on and spend a week soaking up all the new stuff and then hang around bus stops and supermarket queues hoping for an opportunity to chat to someone - anyone.
You don't need to log on to soak up the new stuff Pete. You can just look.
But where's the fun in that, Joe?
You may have a point. You could liken it to shouting at the tele perhaps. Lee Mack makes a quip and you just take him down. Bask in self glory whilst your dog just looks at you blankly. I can concede some ground here.
You means whoever in this sense....I got to put that in. There's a a term for it. I dunno what it is.
Just what sort of "logging on" are we talking about here, Joe?
I don't get it Pete? What do you mean?
Sounds like a classic diverter valve problem .
That'll be £150 ta.
Too late. Pete's already sorted it pal.
Hope you're not the cowboy who installed it to begin with.
It's despicable how some posters will try to appear knowledgeable by regurgitating what someone has already written - trying to pass it off as from their own fund on know-how to score some cheap points, isn't it, Joe
It's 9 degrees c out there, wtf are you doing having your heating on?
The problem occurred when I was on the road with the city on Saturday TH63; I always turn the heating off when on away days! The Mrs turned the CH on when she got in from work and nothing happened. I took a look at it yesterday and things pointed toward a diverter valve problem. However, not being a qualified plumber/heating expert I called the guy in who did it last year (I didn't realise I still had his number) to give a qualified opinion, and it was the motor in the diverter valve that was causing the problem. The new motor and the call out and labour was much less than the £150 that was estimated in a previous post. All happy in SJB household.
