***PIC OF CROESY DELETED BY COLONEL***
Fuck off Mark.
This one made me laugh out loud. Not directed at anyone
@Dave I've just had a trawl through your post log, to look at these football posts of yours. There's ten pages, I gave up after four pages, but all I could see from you that was even remotely football related was a post about Ryan Giggs.
I get that you have a hard time here, but you've had a number of positive ratings to go with the negatives. I'd suggest that you treat the negative ones with the same attitude that the the likes of the colonel, nugent, splotty and I do.
Maybe just stick to discussing football?
Nobody, and I mean nobody, gets more stick than @Nugent (the tory, small cocked Man U fan) but he takes it as banter, joins in, laughs it off and gives a bit back without getting upset about it.
He's a great example of how to post.
TBF, whatever the guy posted has been derailed, by "The Usual Suspects". I don't care who he is, I don't care who they are, or what issues they may have had in a previous incarnation, but I do care about the way the board is heading.
As a complete outsider, with no axe to grind, I can see that this is by no means all one-sided and maybe it's time for the mods to take a stronger line with all of the protagonists.
@TH63, equally if you scroll through the first couple of pages of the message board generally there are relatively few football related posts on the message board. As I said, I'd be more than happy to just chat Cardiff City, football generally and the general crap that people usually post about on here. It's just the crap that constantly goes with everything that I post that is tiring, unnecessary and unwarranted that everyone on here could do with a rest from. I'll happily call it a day if you would prefer.
Well I hope you realise that I respect your opinion tda, but "taking a stronger line" is not as easy as it sounds.
We don't have a set of rules as such, and nor do we want them. That leaves us with having to make judgement calls. When this is done, it is very rare to get universal agreement that it was the right thing to do. Most of us prefer a more liberal approach to posting, but that too has its challenges, and yes, threads can get derailed/go downhill but while we joke about "North Korea" it is a valid concern. I myself
Rather than get all "moddy" about it, it is surely much better for all concerned if posters "self moderate"? Check out the members tab and search by most negative ratings, you don't see the people at the top of that league getting upset about them. As I mentioned earlier, poor old nuge gets dog's abuse but you never see him getting upset or over-reacting.
Myself, @Dr. Lecter , @Eat Y'self Fitter and @Joecity give each other plenty of ribbing, but we laugh, give a bit back, and it ends there. If one of us were to get upset, spit our dummies out and overreact, then the banter could get out of hand. But, we're grown ups, we enjoy giving and receiving (oo eer) banter and we move on.
That's all I'm suggesting here, if Dave let it ride over him, then "the ilk" would get bored. Likewise if Dave actually contributed to football discussion I'm sure he'd receive more positive feedback.
The problem is, that "Dave" reacts and posts in a very similar way to another poster. Uncannily so, even though in my opinion, I don't think it is the same bloke.
I know it's not easy and I don't envy your job at all. I see a difference between the banter between the guys you mention and what is dished out by the flock of vultures who are constantly circling waiting for Dave (or in the past Croesy) to appear.
We used to have a muppet on here, who I must've upset in a past life, who gave me a negative rating on everything I posted, and never missed an opportunity to have a go at me. Guess what? I ignored him, he got bored and went away.
Just go with the flow, if someone has a pop at you, ignore it or laugh it off or join in proportionately.
Just my advice
Just to put some context on that Nugent has made 5,086 posts to get 136 negative ratings. My 577 posts have attracted 141 negative ratings. This has been added to since your post was made @TH63 .
As far as some posters are concerned every single post gets a wrench of shit from one particular poster.
Never mind, we will carry on regardless
Change the channel ffs. You’ve been playing this game, in the role of the victim, for well over a decade now. It’s tedious.
What’s the matter? Mrs Harris not giving you enough attention at home?
You’re a well off man, in the autumn years of his life, surely you’ve got better things to do than crave a load of attention off a bunch of strangers online?
Surely you have better things to do than stalk such a person?
Giving someone a rating is not stalking. It’s how the forum works.
I didn’t say it was.
It’s what you’re implying. You’ve been crying about the negative ratings for 2 days.
Anyway, I don’t wish to engage with you any further unless it’s a rating.
Jeez, I gave that Hare Krishna thread a “good football post” rating the other day, it’s meaningless.
I have a busy, responsible job, family, bills to pay, my family has had a fucking awful year, you think I’m going to get upset because some random bloke I’ve never met gives me a wrench of shit on a message board?
You must live a charmed life if a negative post rating is going to fuck up your day.
Simple question. Do you think the above exchange with whittsleftpeg is helping or making it worse?
@TH63 Fairplay to you for at least trying to tackle this, I'd love to help but I really can't get involved in the same arguments time and time again with the same outcome, it sucks the life out of me
Unless Splotty is heading for the chop of course.
I had that argument once, I was due on and very up for an argument as I recall, not that I'm making excuses but at least I have a bit of an excuse once a month, there is no excuse for this bullshit twice a week
