Recent history would suggest that English strikers peak to early, I wonder if that trend will continue? Thanks for posting this it confirmed what I thought about Rooney
You may have a point there. Be interesting to see if there's more data on average length of elite player career across each nation... For instance, I'd imagine Italy would be high up for longevity of player...
Michael Owen the most classic case of this. Injury didn't help but once his pace went and it went early as well he had nothing.
Top, top pundit though.
Fowler, Owen, Shearer, Loonacre, Rooney all had natural finishing skills and youthful athletic builds. Filling out as they got older and injuries took the edge off their game. Just attrition at the end of the day.
An exception is Ibrahimovic, who just adapted his game as he got older. Great footballer imo.
