I have just finished reading Jon Parkin's (ghost written) autobiography 'Feed The Beast'. The two forwards were written by Jilly Cooper - who met him when he was with Forest Green - and Tony Pulis - briefly his manager at Stoke! As a quick and very readable story of a career that somehow survived booze, gambling, depression and Malky Mackay, it's not bad.

    1. On his 9th professional team and plays No 9 - was Irish u18 and English u18/19/21 (born in the same place as Maggie Thatcher who didn't like Argentina, but he now plays for an Argentinian!).

    2. Village in the Hope Valley (Derbyshire) with a community pub (The Anglers Rest) - that started as a tree trunk over the river.

    3. Joseph Cyril started making the big machines, but died before the song came out!
