Confirmed, the iceman is back until Summer 2019
Yep, just popped up on my phone as well
Well that's very good of him to stay another months instead of signing for .......
Maybe that’s the contract that was offered to him?
Maybe so ..but do you really believe we only offered a year contract....he is only 29 makes no sense ...looks like he run his contract down but no one came in for him ...
Could be he’s been holding out for a longer deal but the club’s waiting to see if he can perform in the prem?
Players with 1 year on a contract tend to play well so I'm happy enough.
I’m glad he’s signed I hope he manages to avoid any injuries this season.
Fair play to the man, he's devoted his best playing years to Cardiff City. He hasn't always been our best player but we've seen him put in some shifts and seen him perform some heroics for us. One thing is for sure, he'll go down in folklore as a City icon.
They play well to get in the shop window
And that will do for me. He could have gone on a free this year plus we signed him for free.
Don't get me wrong I like Gunnar ..maybe that's why I'm annoyed at the 12 month contract
He’s said he doesn’t want to play another season in the Championship again. He obviously suffered with injury last season and he could have gotten injured in Russia. Also it’s not like his value is going to skyrocket and we’ll lose out is it, so him signing now suits us both.
He's signed. That's it for me. He's a massive part of the harmony of the squad as well. I would like a more technical midfielder to play alongside one of him or Ralls or both if Patterson isn't going to play. 3 in the middle of Ralls, Gunnar, Patterson and we will struggle but fit any of them around a bright player and we can do ok. The ball is going to move much quicker this year. We need midfielders that can give and go as well as a Gunnar type. He ticks a box in the squad though so it's good news.
Oh for fuck sake.
I hoped he would have moved on tbh.
He's fucking garbage.
@TH63 , come on bruv, he is shit, he came back from injury and was plopped into a winning team, which incidentally then struggled to get over the line.
The little shit delayed his contract signing in the hope he had a good world cup like the euros, that went tits up , and now he's commited for 1 poxy season, that's incase we get relegated...
Well let me tell you gunnars , you're shit bruv.
Decent little player a few years ago.
Why delay the contract signing? No one was coming in for you.
Oh, he's hardly shit. He had a tough time with injury last season, and he may not be the most talented player we have, but if we need to set up defensively, which we will more often than not next season, then he's not a bad player to have sitting in front of the back four imho
I’m in 2 minds on this one. We’re short of midfielders at the moment, so it helps on that point. He can have the odd moments of heroism. But over the last 2 seasons I’ve seen him regularly run out of steam around 60 minutes and grab players as they run past him (annoys the crap out of me that). But the most annoying part of his play for me is when he stands out of position and points everywhere like an Italian Traffic Cop for other players to mark/move etc. I think he pulls our midfield out of shape a lot-I think that’s why Grujic struggled to play with him. But he’s a squad player and Colin’s got a Bromance going with him
Plus, if we hadn’t signed Gunnar and had to sign a similar player, how many millions would we have to pay?
End of the day, we’ve got a decent midfielder who we know will work his socks off, effectively on a free.
