Yup Feedy, looks like he read it. Did you?
shock horror different languages have different names for the same place. Llundain, Manceinion etc etc.
the petition, which is what the article is about, is asking the Welsh Parliament to legislate about changing house names.
if you have courage in your convictions can you let us know when you will be renaming this site the Forwm Clwb Peldroed Dinas Caerdydd?
But Llunain & Manceinion aren't actually called Llundain or Manceinion are they?
in Welsh they are, in English they are not. Ergo why should anyone refer to a place in its given Welsh name if they are speaking English?
anyway, we can nip this in the bud, we all agree Welsh and English have equal protection under Welsh law, ergo no one should be complaining at all if English is used in place of Welsh. Unless of course you only believe Welsh should have the protection of the law?
Did we? Or did we vote to join the Common Market and then get taken into a political union by stealth from A Tory government? The terms over and above that which were on offer to the British public, were never made public and thus the electorate were kept deliberately uninformed, about the eventual destiny of Britain in Europe.
You will be aware that Tony Blair denied us a referendum on Maastricht, Lisbon and Rome.
Sating that, I'm sure if we had a plebiscite back in the late 1990s, pro Europe would have won, as New Labour were very much in the EU camp.
By that time it was too late, we were already politically wedded to the EU from the Harold Wilson era. Both Wilson and Heath knew that the British public's appetite for a diminution of sovereignty, was going to be completely rejected in the 70's, so they chose to hide the true agenda from the public.
Yet here we are, after a referendum, leaving the EU. Draw your own conclusions on the veracity of your comments.
I'm old school Feedy. The country was taken in to the Common Market purely for trade. If you go back and check, you will see that there was never a vote to go in to the EU in the 70's. There was a vote as to whether we should stay in it after the event. The event being, the behind closed doors negotiations for a political union, that the public were never consulted on.
lt should be independent anarchists, such is the disunity in the independent movement. There is a lack of discipline and strategic messaging with this movement. Different groups of people loosely agreeing on some form of independence, all with entirely different and separate agendas, means, methods, and gripes. How are they ever going to find a partner to ever negotiate anything with?
Spot on mate, there's a chain of Anti-English racism through that twitter thread.
If that's your decision - that's fine
I think its a shame if people change old Welsh house names to English but surely that's their perogative as the homeowner? Nothing to stop the locals calling it what they please in conversation. Even if there's a public conversation to be had on the issue I can't see how legislation is justifiable here.
I'd like to see place names for towns and beauty spots survive but that shouldn't be an issue with the protection Welsh has in law and the fact numbers of Welsh speakers are on the increase.
Isn't Liverpool Lerpwl already?
No Welsh advertising anywhere??
It appears the minor and insignificant platform of youtube is now showing adverts in Welsh
An example of how Wales performs better under our own control:

Vandalised? Or a calculated attempt to create outrage, propaganda, garner sympathy and support?
