Are you kidding me? The infrastructure was made so that British businesses could profit of us. Exploitation, pure and simple. Don't pretend the Brits did good around the world

Yes "us". I come from Pakistani descent and I will never forget my roots. My ancestors were exploited, hence me saying "us"

A former colleague, who seems to like this kind of thing, retweeted Andrews' tweet on the topic of his interview

    ""

Meaning I was assailed with this bollocks again despite idly surfing for a few interesting footy tweets over my lunch.

Quite a few people saying "ooh well said, I'll be sure to buy your book"

So mission accomplished from Andrews' point of view then.

It's the other side of the Katie Hopkins coin really, go on telly, say something completely unreasonable and then count book sales/social media followers etc.

In delhi there is this tiny area by the imperial hotel where all the roads are far nicer than the terrible conditions surrounding it.

If anyone wanted proof of what Britain gave to india haha.

Bled the place dry and gave nothing back apart from a small area where the english could live

The only difference between what we (the British) did in India during 19th century and what the USA is doing now around the globe, is that the technology has changed.

Another Churchill fact. He recorded a lot of his famous speeches (such as "We will fight them on the beaches") after the war. When he made that speech in Parliament it was not as warmly received as history leads us to believe.

Great leader though, and I hope people go on quoting him for the next 100 years.

    Ima feel you brother.

I’ll never forgive those Swedish bastards for all that raping and pillaging they did around here in the 11th century

To be fair @adz-a32 , long before the British came along the area which we now know as Pakistan was ruled by a number of other foreign empires, for example, the Persians, Macedonians, Mongols and Afghans.

Sure, back in the day, Britain did some bad stuff, selling Africans as slaves to the colonies for example. But, scientists believe that the first humans came from Africa and Asia, so how far are we going back here?

I get that you can trace your ancestors to Pakistan (a country that didn’t exist eighty years ago btw), but you’re as British as I am. We can all trace our roots to somewhere else if we go back far enough. So let’s not do that, let’s look forward.

Don't you dare lecture me on identity.

Yes I know Pakistan did not exist before 1947 but the area in general was exploited. Also I am only second generation so my family moving to UK is recent compared to yours

I am only second generation. I admit I have gained via being born and bred in UK but considering that my fam had to move here due to more opportunities and that as a British Pakistani, there is still issues in race such as employment, I lost out

Woah! Calm down lad. I have a lot of time for you, but I could seriously do without the attitude this week.

If you want to identify yourself with country you weren’t born in that’s up to you. It’s a shame, but that’s up to you.

As I was trying to say though, yes Britain was shot to that region, but they weren’t the first, and they won’t be the last. My point is, that all happened a long time ago.

Don't be patronising and lecture me on identity. I know the history of the region. I identify as both British and Pakistani, check my social media bios and I got both flags. And Britain still has a legacy in that area - even left some provinces divided and displaced ethno-linguistic groups
