Me hassling Joe about ways to cook veg thread

    How did you cook the chicken? I like doing frozen chicken thighs in the slow cooker, they go lovely and tender, chuck some veg in with that and you've a one pot meal.. you'll need some rice or spuds or something in another pot mind.

    Yep, clean/peel & chop the veg up and whack it all in with chicken or meat. chuck some baby potatoes in too...job done. A sort of casserole in essence.
    Similar principle stuff was available years ago..Shake & Bake

    You can do chicken thighs in the slow cooker from frozen??? This might have just revolutionised my chicken game :hehe:

    Well that would be ideal for me, to bung a load of meat and veg (and stock presumably?) into the slow cooker in the morning and then it be ready to plate up by dinner time, what a result! :warnock:

    Aye, but less liquid than you would in a pan as it doesn't evaporate.
    Cook the onions first too as they never cook in the slow cooker.

    Browning the meat helps too but I don't bother when doing chicken.

    A whole chicken in a slow cooker is awesome. Just bung it in for 8 hours on low and it literally falls off the bone. The skin is a bit shit though, so either cut it off or chuck it in the oven for ten minutes before serving.

    Gammon joint in slow cooker bathing in Diet Coke is fudging lush too. Really tender with a sweet flavour.

    Turkey’s don’t fucking fit in the slow cooker!

    I got served Gammon slow cooked in Cherry Coke round at a friend's one time.
    I was pretty sceptical TBH.
    It was however most jolly well facking lush mun.

    Ox tail cooked in the slow cooker is special. 8 hr job. More if you can. A little bit of cumin, a beef stock cube, 1 grated clove of garlic, water, glass of red wine, salt, pepper, little pearl onions, thyme and parsley. Cook that for a Frenchman and his beret will spin around and his stripey top blow off.

    I'm sick of show-off TV chefs breaking eggs using just one hand. If the good lord had meant us to break eggs like that he would have given us one hand, not two. It would serve these people right if they lost an arm in an accident like that drummer out of Def Leppard.

    They're in little packets like powdered soup or fajita seasoning. I got one delivered by mistake in my Tesco shop a while back but have never used it.

    Ah, I probably walked past it a few times. :hehe:

    I did pick up some Frikadellen, some Bergwurst and some Srirach Mayo though, so it wasn't a total loss. Just made a small plate with the meat and the mayo to dip and it's quite nice. The mayo is spicier than I prefer though and I wish I'd known in advance the skin on the Bergwurst was basically inedible :hehe:

    Well I tried my first Maggi bag today, I threw 6 chicken thighs into a Paprika flavour bag and it was gorgeous! THe chicken cooked to perfection, the flavour was lovely and the chicken was the juiciest I've ever eaten.

    Bought a few flavours so I'm going to try it with some veg next time, see what that's like :thumbup:
