I worked on the new housing estate near there called Helen place back in 1979/80.
In 1911 the Picturedome Cinema opened in Solomon Andrews’ Large Hall in Albert Road, Penarth. In 1924 it became the Albert Hall Cinema run by the Willmore Brothers, becoming known as the Hippodrome before it burnt down in 1929.

The original Merchant's Exchange building at the end of Bute Street near the Pier Head Landing Stage was built around 1885 but completely destroyed by a major fire in November 1892.
