I remember walking up there with my cub/scout group at about 9yrs of age. It was as if we were going on some African Safari to a pristine wilderness before dogging took hold at the top.

The extension of the old grandstand was a major event at the time, but strange as we were never remotely close to capacity crowds in the 70's and also there was not that much money about. I don't know how the project was funded?
We could do with an Alan Warboys or Tony Evans now! Both knew where the net was...
