I am a great one for tradition and little bit of decorum. The modern attitude of "I will do what I want to anyway" does irritate me to say the least. Just had a look at MGC website and, I am very pleased to see that they have not caved in on dress code.
Members and guests are politely reminded that the wearing of:
Headgear, vests, ripped jeans, golf shoes (or footwear worn on the course and bare or stockinged feet) are not permitted in the club house.
Whilst on the course members and guests are required to wear: collared shirts, golf shoes, tailored/smart shorts and NO denims.
The Management Committee would appreciate your co-operation in this matter and reserves the right to exclude people whose appearance and behaviour is inappropriate.
A serious accident was narrowly avoided earlier this morning by the quick thinking of a mother who's 2 children had run into the road.
Incident happened on the A4048 heading towards Tredegar at about 7.30am local time. The 2 youngsters were playing in the middle of the road when a car came around a bend towards them at some speed, luckily the quick thinking mother stepped into the road between her children and the car and stared the vehicle down causing the vehicle to brake sharply and slide up onto the verge.
Passing motorists who were arriving a the scene got out and helped round up the sheep and force them into a field and safety. Thankfully there were no serious injuries, however the car will need a tow truck to continue it's journey. Hopefully lessons have been learnt her.
