I wonder if splotty still reads this board.
Sorry, but that is just vandalism, plain and simple.
Yes, I understand that you feel that you have a cause to pursue, but graffiti? Is that really going to change a lot of minds........ I don't think.
How about addressing some real issues and practicalities of being independent, instead of banging on about about how hard done by we Welsh have been in the past?
What is proposed on the question of currency after independence?
How does the population feel about having to to swap their UK passport for one issued by the Democratic Peoples Republic of Cymru? In reality, how many people would be willing to do that?
How about protection for people living, working or travelling abroad? At present, UK citizens have the protection of our 85 embassies and 50 consulates spread throughout the world. As an independent country, how would Wales propose to replace this protection and also how would that be funded?
Please don't tell me that you would seek to maintain some links with the rest of the UK
No you're quite right, those are all insurmountable challenges, we should just give up.
Hey England, want to drown any other of our communities for your own well being?
Never mind that all the commonwealth countries left Westminster rule and get by in their own way, some richer and bigger than Wales, some poorer and smaller. None of them have asked to go back under English rule by the way.
No, but I think Wales would be better off pressing for a fairer deal within the UK.
Well the campaign for any kind of change has to start somewhere and painting a poingiant reminder on a few walls isn't really hurting anyone.
They got out because the UK milked them of their resources. And even then they created some conditions stopping them from thriving.
England relies on Welsh resources so Welsh independence will not happen in the short run due to that
When Wales governs itself England will be as welcome to our resources as the next paying customer.
Agree but England will not allow Wales to be independent due to the reliance of resources
And I'm saying that England can continue relying on our resources as long as they pay the market rate for them.
You don't need to be independent to achieve that. You need strong politicians.
Why not both?
