any photos bill oddie?
Even the blind can see raptors but have you seen a goldcrest or firecrest yet. Plenty in South Wales.
Not yet niddy.
I've only just started
I've seen in my first week,1 buzzard, 1 great tit and a magpie
Fuck me, Bill Oddie’s job’s safe
I've been sitting outside my digs with my book, so yeah, I can scratch magpie off my list
I saw a magpie the other day, looking out the bathroom window while having a piss
Why was a Magpie having a piss out of your bathroom window?
It would be disappointing to see less than half a dozen in half an hour. Even my cats bring in a greater variety than that. When you get back to Cardiff go to Forest Farm and you'll probably see up to 40 different species from the comfort of a bird hide on the first day.
What about Barry?
What can I expect to see there mate
Last time I was down Barry a bird shat all over the bonnet of my van, she apologised though and gave me a chip.
@Mrs Steve R ???
Porthkerry would be my guess for Barry but the advantage of Forest Farm is it is a wetland and you get more birds around wetlands. Then you have the Taff next door which brings it's own population of birds. I've been to many places across the UK and Forest Farm is head and shoulders above most. If you don't want to take a car just take the train to Radyr and you'll have one of the best days out of your life. If I were still in Cardiff I'd offer to show you around that place.
BTW if you're lucky you might even see otters on the Taff. They were just north of Radyr when I was there four years ago.
Thanks nid, that's sound advice that mate.
Over the years I'd been going I think I'd seen over 70 different species there. The advantage is that you don't have to do much walking to see that variety. In the winter you are likely to have robins feeding out of your hand.
What's your favourite species nid
I took about 5,000 photos of Kingfishers having been obsessed with them for a time but my favourite species is the Grey Crowned Crane which I once saw at Slimbridge. Of the songbirds Long Tailed Tits are one of my favourites as Pink is a relatively rare colour on a bird.
not fucking seagulls their all up the valleys trying to eat my dog
