    In all seriousness well done. You got to the Semi Final. Nobody can take that away. It's not your fault you had an easy draw. You can only play who is facing you. I don't care for sections of your over hyped media and some of your fans are bell ends but then you can't help that. From a football point of view and nothing else congratulations on your achievement. The records will show you got to a Semi Final and may still finish 3rd. Lots of big teams never. That alone deserves credit so again well done.

    Southgate has been excellent, I hope the media are kind to him.
    As for the players, a young side who will only get better. They’ve behaved impeccably and all seem like decent people.

    I think the Euros is an equally difficult tournament and Wales got to the semis there too.

    WC is arguably a greater stage

    I think both achievements are on a par in reality, although in the other half of the draw England would have been out in the quarters

    England are a Bale away from being extremely good though

    I honestly think they took a look at - and took a leaf out of - Wales' outlook, ethos and message in the Euro's.
    And the period of regeneration that went before it.

    I tried to be ambivalent about Southgate but couldnt help but warm to him.
    Thats quite enough now ..

    Imo the different footballing cultures involved make the WC harder in some respects

    The lowly teams have given some big teams a real run for their money at times too

    It’s been a great WC

    I always see a bit of a sliding scale. Goes a bit like but not completely

    Winning the old World Cup up to 94' odd

    Winning the old 8 team Euros

    Winning the World Cup on a different continent particularly European teams in South America.

    Winning an expanded Euros

    Wales is still a massive achievement. England's is up there this time but not as good for me due to the opposition faced but as I said that's beyond their control.
