I got called one
Yeah, but I don’t think he’s telling him that white is a bad thing, what’s bad is that he’s basically accusing his mate of secretly wishing he was white and therefore ashamed of his own culture/race.
Bit like calling nuge a Man U fan, it’s not saying that it’s wrong to be a Man U fan per se, but it is wrong t9 be a Man U fan if you’re from Barry.
If you see what I mean
Yeah I see what you're saying but a Man U fan from Barry wouldn't get offended at the accusation, he would be proud of it, if anything, whereas the "coconut" jibe would be used as, and taken as, an insult.
Totally agree that coconut is an insult, where we differ is you feel like they are saying that being white is a bad thing, whereas I feel that they are saying wishing you weren’t black is a bad thing.
I'd like to believe that was the case but it might be a bit naive.
White people don't have the greatest of reputations amongst the other races of the world and that is reflected in the coconut insult. A black person being told they're partly white is akin to being told they have a tainted soul.
I'm white. I'm propably the whitest person you've ever saw. I'm ginger (feel free to rip me out). My ex wife is black. My kids are( no gingers here) what? They know the background of both their parents. My youngest was racially abused on a train a few weeks ago. No one, and I mean no one helped. When I heard I wanted to fight every white person. They're all the same aren't they.
My three kids, mainly, don't even think about race. Not a concern. However regardless if you're black, white, asian, native american or whatever if you call my kid a coconut I'm punching you straight in the thorax.
Don’t a lot of mixed race people consider themselves black? I know a mixed race chap who always goes on about being black but I’ve never heard him refer to himself as white, or part white. Is it that being white is just not very ‘cool’?
I’m half Welsh, half German. I consider myself Welsh but am still proud of my German roots (just not their history). I used to get a load of grief in school for my German heritage.
Can only talk about my lot. I don't think they wake up any morning thinking what colour they are. Can understand though how some people could become very defensive if constantly abused. Thankfully we've only seen one or two occasions where twats are twats. Generally 99.9% people are OK, except on tinternet of course
Remember when Rio Ferdinand called Ashley Cole a choc ice
What happened to wiggers? you don't hear that anymore.
Not heard that one in a along time
Another word banned by the do gooders.
Political correctness gone mad.
Tommy Robinson is a John Bull
Sorry to hear about your youngest mate, that's pretty shit.
I firmly believe that the best way to deal with these pricjs is to confront them so they know their shitty views are unacceptable in todays society.
Dont get me wrong, I understand why some people don't want to put themselves in that position but any fit and healthy grown man sitting there looking the other way while some kid (I'm assuming your kids are still youngsters) gets grief for being black/gay/whatever needs to take a good look in the mirror.
Agree with this. Its similar to Welsh people who for some reason pretend to be English, or anti Welsh at least.
We've got a few of those on this MB and it's cringeworthy
I somehow got called that
Is that so he can get a good view of what's going on behind his back
