Lead, only use the gun for target shooting.
The Welsh archers Dave beat the french because our lads had longbows, some with a draw weight of 180lbs capable of a kill at 400 yards, and the froggies had crossbows which took too long to load what with fucking about with those foot stirrups, and were nowhere near as powerful as a longbow. A 350lb crossbow is only as powerful as 70lb recurve bow, all about draw distance (power stroke), kinetic energy etc.
I think you should run a bus to the jacks next year al we can all go around to the colonels estate to practice 6 weeks before the game. Anyone who cops Cyril the swan through the neck gets £150
The advantage of the crossbow was anyone could use it whereas a longbow took a lifetime to master
i used to love my strongbow
Kids were started from about the age of 8, by the time they reached adulthood they were able to use bows of upwards of 100lb draw weight, I'll bet there's few blokes who could draw a 100lb bow let alone fire it with accuracy. I started with bows at the age of 14 with a 35lb flat bow, I can shoot my 120lb bow, it takes a lot of strength even for a 230lb bloke like me. The crossbows the french used were useless against the long bow, the downfall of the longbow started when they introduced steel plate armour to replace the iron stuff, which, Bodkin needle point arrows used to go straight through.
