I’m thinking of removing my radiators in the lounge and replacing them with underfloor heating instead.

Has anyone else done this? If so would you recommend it?

Which is better? Electric or pipe?

    Diolch!

Our house has got it although it was done before we bought it when it was being renovated

I believe pipes are better which is what we have but think they are more expensive

I really like ours - we can have the heating on for a few hours in the morning and it stays warm for the rest of the day. You also free up room space by not having radiators on the walls

Had the electric under floor heating in a flat years ago, was problematic and expensive and made the wife's feet smell.

FYI I haven’t electrified my gates yet. I’m going to do that when I build my garden house :hehe:

Thought it was really expensive to run? Women in work told me she had a quarterly bill of 800 odd sheets after having it on through one winter

If you’re as good at electrics as your fellow Tories seem to be at carpentry I think I’ll give that a miss

Thanks for the offer though :thumbup:

You called Jamie a liar and cast aspersion on a tradesmans level of competence all in a couple of posts. What's wrong with you man, get a grip

Well you didn't really clarify anything other than you keep yours turned off most of the day. Probably because it's too dear to leave on

Just relaying my experiences of underfloor heating to help my fellow board members.

It’s turned off most of the day but turned on earlier then you would a radiator to get going and warm the floor up. The floor then stays warm for a lot longer after you turn it off than a radiator would the air.

Overall I wouldn’t say there’s a great deal of difference in the cost of running

I hope you have found this most informative

Now that's the answer Jamie was looking for.

He asked if it was expensive to run. I said don’t think so.

Question answered right off the bat

You misinterpreted so simply padded it out just for your good self so you could get your head round it

You’re welcome by the way

I think the pipes they use are pretty resilient. Usually more so than the metal ones radiators carry about, and they are still running under the floor don’t forget

They can't use copper pipes under floor screed, the cement corrodes the copper, they use alkathene I think.
