I had to check it wasnt April 1st
What it means is 'Anyone but England '
If they were bright they wouldnt be Welsh nationalists
They are all tax havens
Not sure if this was for me, but I answered early in the thread by stating the cases of Iceland, Andorra and Lichtenstein as examples of far smaller, less populous nations, who have higher standards of living and are non EU.
Hope this helps.
Wow. You have to get up early to catch Feedy out.
But attaching value to bits of metal mined out if the ground is perfectly sensible?
Fiat derives its value in that you can pay your taxes with it. That's why it has value
There are Pros and Cons for both Brexit and Independence...but what I'm struggling to get my head around is the call for independence from England (and part of me gets that) but happy to be part of the EU...
OR is it a more a Nationalistic thing?
In which case it isnt much different to what Brexit supporters are accused of... but the word Racist is used instead.
Crypto is more akin to a commodity than a currency.
Yep, it sounds like 'hate being controlled by England, but happy to be run by krauts and fucking frogs'
Trousers down, bend over, brace
It means they have financial services industry which is completely out of kilter with the size of their economy.
A bit like London?
Not really comparable. London is a global alpha city of 8m people
It is comparable though. If all the financial service industries in London decided to pack their backs and go elsewhere, What do think would happen to London?
It'd be fooked. Unless of course all the pearly king and queen button makers and jellied eel suppliers stepped up their game.
What made London the great city it is today, from when it first started out? Oh yeah it's proximity and trade with EUROPE!
Fundamentally I don’t see membership of the EU as losing independence. The EU doesn’t dictate our laws, some of them yes (voted for by the government) so I don’t get the whole independence from the evil European overload thing that farage has got going on.
Germany, France and Spain are independent countries, Wales is not.
They just happen to be part of a trading bloc, with common product standards, some common laws which they’ve all agree on. The only difference between them and the uk is that they all agreed to join the euro, the uk decided not to.
The EU has done far more for Wales than those pricks in Westminster.
The British empire is gone, the uk isn’t far behind imho.
Speaking personally, I’d like Wales to secede from the disunited kingdom, and take our place as an independent nation, along with Scotland, Ireland and England as part of the EU. We get freedom from Westminster but retain the economic benefits of the largest trading bloc in the world.
I doubt It’ll happen in my lifetime, if at all.
London is far more than financial services. Yes its famous for it but pretty much all ftse 100 companies are based there.
As for trade with Europe, mercantilism in 17th and early 18th centuries is what made London what it is today.
If the financial services left London it would be knackered. If they naffed off guess what all the ftse 100 would do? They'd follow the profit. Because that's all they really care about.
As for mercantilism what was the biggest market? Oh yeah EUROPE!
