West Ham are reportedly keen on landing the Cardiff City goalkeeper following a string of impressive performances in the Premier League

West Ham United are reportedly planning a move for Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

According to Football Insider , the Hammers are looking to provide greater competition for current number one Lukasz Fabianski, and have been impressed by Cardiff's Player of the Season.

Spanish shot-stopper Adrian is expected to leave the London Stadium on a free transfer this summer, and a new keeper is subsequently likely to be high on Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini's wishlist.

Etheridge has been in fine form for the Bluebirds, despite their relegation to the Championship this season, keeping a total of 10 clean sheets, and West Ham are believed to be just one of several clubs keeping tabs on the 29-year old.

If only he could find a City player with a throw or a kick he could set his sights higher. Have we got a goalie coach? If so why hasn't he improved? The coaching has been shit at the City since forever.

    Considering? Planning a move for?

I can see it now, Sullivan, Brady and Gold all sat in the office drinking Remy Martin, smoking cigars and considering a move for Neil Etheridge. Then telling people they are considering a move for Neil Etheridge.

Is it? Well his positioning has improved. His kicking though. I know he needs go long mostly but feck me. Dibble was a shit kicker though if you remember. Brilliant shot stopper but kicking wasn't his thing.

There's your answer then. Etheridge probably had an amazing kick on him when he first arrived.

Gavin Ward could boot the ball to Culverhouse Cross. George Wood n all. I've some sympathy as the modern keeper usually has an out as it were. All Etheridge sees is the numbers on his team mates shirts.

Likewise. I used to sing it. I was singing 'CC CFC kick to kill' once having soaked it up on the way home with my gramp in the car. Massive clip around the swede.

    “Hello, West Ham”

“Oh hello, it’s Derek Windsock here from HMRC, could I talk to Mr Sullivan please, it’s about some serious irregularities in the clubs finances”

“I’m afraid not, he’s currently in his office considering a swoop for Neil Etheridge”

    “Good goalie he is”

“What the fuck would you know about it, you’re just a tax inspector”

“I also happen to be a Cardiff City fan”

“Bollocks, no bluebird worth his salt would work for the revenue. Now if you don’t mind I’ve got jellied eels to serve, good day”

I shouldn't think the Etheridge would want to give up his guaranteed starting place at this stage of his career. However, the PL money on offer might be too tempting for both him and the club.

It seemed like a bit of a blow when Marshall left but that turned out better for CCFC than it did for Marshall...
Not that I'd like to see Etheridge go

Remember we gave Tom Heaton away for nowt. Without injury last year he'd of held on to England No 1. Mel Rees was the keeper I first remember. RIP Mel

Dilwyn John was the man in possession of the gloves when I started watching City in 1966.

I think that Alex Smithies would be a more than adequate replacement. He has been well thought of for years and I was surprised when he did move to us as number 2. I seem to remember some banter between the City fans and him the last time QPR played at CCS, with Smithies saying that they would be seeing far more of him in the future, but that was a good while before he signed.

I go back one further. The Original "Bob Wilson". Arsenal saw how good he was and got themselves one as well.

I supported City since my early teens. My career in HMRC was just a fortunate coincidence which enabled me to retire in my early forties thanks to superannuation.

P.S. Why do you think Sullivan opted out of involving himself with City when he heard I was after him. :hehe:
