Barry John “you just throw it and I’ll catch it”
Barry is always in the Borough, top bloke.
Still drinking for free
Yeah especially when there's a rugby match on in town, they're queuing up to buy him a pint.
Brilliant, rightfully so as well, we might not have seen Phil Bennet but what if he played another 3/4 years, he doesn’t get enough credit imo as he should be considered as the greatest player ever certainly at 10 from outside the circle of rugby
my old man his claim to fame as a scrum half played against gareth edwards in a college rugby selection game and he said he could not near him, to this day how much he is proud of being on the same pitch as the great man
My Dad named me after him.
great player @Colonel Cardiffi a welsh legend
Thankyou. I think that Caer Castell was never quite the same after I hung up my boots.
i was always the guy on the wing freezing cold nobody passed to
The King, also featuring Gareth Edwards and my old school teacher John Bevan (number 11)
brilliant in the 70's @Mad Al our teacher in school used to play the crowning years on vhs every year. spine tingling
@Mad Al why didn't carwyn James ever get the Welsh job? Didn't he beat the all blacks 3 times
he was gay
Lions, barbarians and scarlets he coached to victory over the all blacks. I don't know why he didn't coach Wales, missed a trick there.
Very eccentric wasn't he as well
I think the rugby establishment at that time viewed him as too much of a maverick, not one of the old boys club, he was often critical of the hierarchy, maybe that's why they never offered him the job.
I remember seeing him one time down the City
